Description
The inspiration for this piece is the very rare Rafflesia Arnoldii.
Rafflesia Arnoldii is a very unusual and exotic plant which nobody would prefer growing in a nearby landscape. This plant is known to grow the largest flower on this planet Earth! Though it is not thought to be a pretty-flower, it fascinates me. Don't be deceived by my digital enhancements, this flower weighs about 15-24 pounds and is about 3 feet across. Since this rare beauty has such a disgusting odor when it is in bloom, I am not likely to ever want to see one in person. Imagine the smell of rotting meat around you? Well, that is pretty much the same smell you would be getting if you have this huge flower baby around in your yard.

Wow! This is like a crocheted flower! Didn't know about this one. Please send to Our World Gallery, if not already done!

Thanks Lenore! I was looking for exotic flowers to draw and paint that would complement my abstract style when I discovered this flower. I read about it and was amazed to see it growing this big right from the ground. This digital manipulation doesn't let you see that it is actually on the ground in its natural growing environment... it's huge and very textured; it is akin to the family of Baseball plants (or so I read).
