Description
For years and years, I had no clue as to what purple rain was or what the term meant. All I knew was this recording artist named *Prince* released an album called *"Purple Rain"*... and there was also a movie by the same name.
Then, one day last year, I got to see the movie for the first time... a very interesting flick, indeed. What stuck me was the depth of the song *Purple Rain*. I'm sure many people have different takes on this popular song... for me, I can identify with it as describing a wistful yearning by a person for something (or someone) in the past and the realization of the impossibility that whatever condition is longed for will ever exist again.
As I pondered the whole notion of Purple Rain, I painted these two pieces: Purple Rain I and Purple Rain II
.
This is a painting made with Golden acrylics, Jacquard acrylics, mica, watercolor, walnut ink and FW acrylic ink on heavyweight Bristol (vellum finish) paper.

Wow...I see the depth to your connection between song and your art.....very well expressed and beautiful complentary colors....the purple really is vibrant. You have my interest in the movie now.....I always liked the song but never looked into the meaning of the lyrics....now I will.
