Description
This is a self-portrait my son did at age 15... it was a serious time for him and thus the reason he said the young man had no smile! Josh was labeled as ADHD and during his teen years struggled a bit trying to harness all the energy he couldn't explain or express by any other means: ART was his refuge as well.

Thanx, Alga. You've seen the original so you know it's much larger than I'm able to show here...

Oh my goodness my dear friend.....how difficult this must be for you to post but healing in the same respect....so proud of you! He was quite an artist at 15....I could share some things with you concerning my own....labeling is always a question....I think it is just they are so gifted and the energy has to get channeled to their creative side which you encouraged with him. Thanx Linda... I remember when he first did this piece. He was so excited about the techniques he used on the wallpaper background, "Mommie, guess how I did this? You'll never guess... I used tissue paper to lift off color and make the patterns. Awesome, huh ma?" That's what he asked me... I remember, this piece meant so much to him until I took one of my paintings off the wall IMMEDIATELY and placed his right on top of mine and then put it back on the wall. That single act is something he raved about until his death... makes me smile.
